Emily A. Carter is a renowned scholar and educator (Princeton’s Inaugural Andlinger Professor in Energy and the Environment) and visionary administrative leader (Princeton’s Andlinger Center Founding Director, then Dean of Engineering, then UCLA’s Executive Vice Chancellor/Provost, now PPPL’s Senior Strategic Advisor and Associate Lab Director) with a career spanning chemistry, materials science, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and applied/computational mathematics/physics.
JR DeShazo

JR DeShazo is dean of the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, Austin. He was previously faculty at the University of California, Los Angeles focusing on clean technology policies and environmental economics. He earned a doctorate from Harvard University, a master's from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a bachelor's degree from the College of William & Mary.
Holly Jean Buck

Holly Jean Buck is an Associate Professor of Environment and Sustainability at the University at Buffalo. Her research focuses on the social dimensions of climate technologies, including public engagement and policy related to carbon removal. She holds a Ph.D in Development Sociology from Cornell University.
Menachem Elimelech
Member, Advisory Board
Menachem Elimelech is the Nancy and Clint Carlson Professor at Rice University, with joint appointments in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. His research focuses on membrane-based technologies at the water-energy nexus. Professor Elimelech is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
Mark Barteau

Mark Barteau is the Vice President for Research of Texas A&M University, with academic appointments in the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Chemistry. He received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and his MS and PhD from Stanford. He previously served as the Director of the University of Michigan Energy Institute, and earlier at the University of Delaware as Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Founding Director of the University’s Energy Institute, and former Senior Vice Provost for Research and Strategic Initiatives.
Lynn Brickett

Lynn Brickett spent 30 years working for the Federal government as an environmental scientist mitigating pollution. Beginning in 2005 she worked for DOE on carbon management with an emphasis in carbon dioxide capture and removal. In 2022, she began a consulting company assisting utility and industrial sector companies in decarbonization.
Justin Ries

Justin Ries is a Professor of Marine & Environmental Sciences at Northeastern University. He received his B.A. in Geosciences at the Franklin & Marshall College, his Ph.D. in Earth & Planetary Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University, and postdoctoral training at the Johns Hopkins University, the California Institute of Technology, and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution—where he held the WHOI Ocean & Climate Change Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Niall Mac Dowell

Niall Mac Dowell is a Professor in Energy Systems Engineering at Imperial College London. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of both the IChemE and the Royal Society of Chemistry. His research is focused on understanding the transition to a low carbon economy and has published more than 250 peer-reviewed scientific papers, technical reports, and books in this context. Niall has more than a decade’s experience as a consultant to the public and private sectors.

Lord John Browne serves as the Chairman of BeyondNetZero and Managing Director at General Atlantic, providing strategic support and advice to the firm’s investment teams and portfolio companies. In both roles, he advises the firm on ESG considerations, with a particular focus on climate solutions and the path to Net Zero emissions.

Edward R. Muller is the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the UCLA Institute for Carbon Management and of six start-ups deploying technologies developed within the Institute. Mr. Muller has previously served as CEO of three electric generation companies (Genon, Mirant and Edison Mission Energy) and as Vice Chairman of NRG.
Peter Relan

Peter Relan is the founder and mentor at YouWeb. After completing his graduate work from Stanford in 1992, Peter has spent the last 30 years as a serial founder himself in different fields of technology. His current focus is AI and the climate crisis.
Caitlyn Fox

Caitlyn Fox is a social and climate leader with over 15 years of experience including roles at Redstone Strategy Group, REDF, and The Rockefeller Foundation. In Fox's role at CZI, she was responsible for building-out CZI's climate program with a focus on scaling carbon removal technologies.
Jérôme Schmitt

Jérôme Schmitt has over 30 years of global experience in finance, sustainable and energy innovation. He held the positions of SVP of Mergers & Acquisitions, SVP of Carbon Neutral Businesses, and SVP of Sustainable Development & Environment during his tenure at TotalEnergies.
Craig Cogut

Craig Cogut founded Pegasus, a private equity fund manager which over time has focused on planet health and human health. It has become the first U.S. private equity fund manager to be accredited by the Green Climate Fund. Prior to Pegasus, Cogut was a founder and an original partner at Apollo Advisors L.P.
Catherine McKenna

Catherine McKenna is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Climate and Nature Solutions. She is Canada's former Minister of Environment and Climate Change as well as Minister of Infrastructure. She is Chair of the UN Secretary General’s High-Level Expert Group on Net-Zero Commitments of Non-State Entities which released its Integrity Matters report at COP’27 in Egypt in 2022 setting out criteria for net zero commitments of business, financial institutions, cities, and regions.
